I am back with another book review. If you know me, you know I love to read. I love to read books that inspire and encourage me. One of these books is “The Million-Dollar, One-Person Business” by Elaine Pofeldt. Up until reading this book, I could only imagine earning a million dollars as a sole proprietor. I had all these expectations that I needed to grow with a team of people in order to generate a million dollars in revenue. THEN THIS BOOK CAME ALONG and it completely shattered that dream, but in a good way.
In this book, Elaine Pofeldt, who is a contributing writer for many prestigious finance publications, highlights the biggest trend in employment today—the rise of the one million-dollar, one-person business. While many books come up with anecdotes about what you should do and how you should do it, or provide a one-size-fits-all approach to getting on this list of entrepreneurs, Elaine does the opposite. She introduces over 40 entrepreneurs who share their stories in great detail. The entrepreneurs she features are also of different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, which is inspiring and encouraging. It means that we all can earn a million dollars in revenue. Although there are recurrent themes in how these entrepreneurs earned a million dollars in revenue, I appreciated that none of them had the same story. I also valued that they shared how they failed and pivoted to succeed.
The book is a fun and easy read that will definitely inspire you. Let me know how you like it.
